1st Wedding Anniversary

May 19th, 2006 by gablim

19th May 06, a year after my wedding. Doesn’t feel like its been 1 year, more like 4 mths or so… Time move a whole lot faster after quarter life. Perhaps, I’m the one who’s slowing down so much that everything else is moving too fast. Never the less, I’m celebrating by eating heartily at the Euro Friday buffet. So far this is the most satisfying buffet I have in Kuching. At RM$60++ per head, its gotta be good. The food that I downloaded: lasagna, mussel, smoked salmon, oyster quiche, grilled salmon, lamb shank, DIY pizza, pasta bolognaise and variety of cakes.

Craig Thompson

April 26th, 2006 by gablim

Who’s Craig Thompson? Well, you won’t know him if you’re not into graphic novels. I’ve bought 2 of his novels(Blankets & Carnet De Voyage) and had fallen in love with both. Lovely artworks & emotional stories. His cute website is at http://www.dootdootgarden.com/ This is one of the page from his new book, "Carnet De Voyage" which somehow I could relate to:

"Ngajah Duoh Sua" is a Sarawak Artist Exhibition at National Art Gallery. Its a privilege for me to take part together with several artists from Sarawak. We attended the opening ceremony on 1st April and visited other galleries the next day. More photos can be seen at http://www.flickr.com/photos/gablim/sets/72057594099103392/

Mount Kinabalu National Park

March 12th, 2006 by gablim

We went up to the Mount Kinabalu National Park. Its was drizzling and hazy. Its a pity that we can’t see the mountain by the time we arrive at the park(about 2 hours car ride) because of the haze. Its very cold up there and the apartments nearby has a fireplace installed in each room to keep the place warm at night.Mount2 Mount1Mount3 Mount4

Manukan Island

March 12th, 2006 by gablim

Manukan Island is a beautiful place and a great place to snorkel & get tanned. Nice scenery and facilities. A boat ride is RM17 per person and takes about half an hour to arrive. I wish I can stay overnight.Manukan3 Manukan2 Manukan4 Manukan1

Kota Kinabalu

March 12th, 2006 by gablim

I had a short trip to KK last Thursday. Its so unlike any town in Malaysia. Tourism is doing well here, with hotels in every corner. Unlike Kuching, you don’t see Chinese in the town area but mostly natives. The weather is fine and sunset can be seen every evening. I went to the Philipine Market and Gaya Street to shop for souvenirs.Kk3_1 Kk4 Kk2 Kk1

Dreaming of Hong Kong

March 8th, 2006 by gablim

Last night I dreamt I fly to Macau and took a ferry to Hong Kong. Hong Kong in my dream is a futuristic place with weird looking supertall buildings. I took a very crowded lift up to the top floor of one building and can’t get off it because a "huge" lady stood in the way. The lift is kinda weird too and look pretty much like a tray that travels through a tunnel. I sketched it out just so that you know what I’m talking about. LiftOk, enough of nonsense. About going to Macau, I look up the price on Airasia, and wow, its really cheap. One can take a "TurboJet" ferry to cross from Macau to Hong Kong (http://www.turbojet.com.hk). The economic fare is between HK$142-176(macau->HK) and HK$138-172(HK->macau). And that’s RM135++ for return trip.Macau_3 My dream might come true soon. hehe.

February Birthday Party

March 1st, 2006 by gablim

This is a CE-style birthday party, leaving everyone feeling so touched & almost moved to tears. All thanks to our super event organiser, Carolyn(with some help from the good samaritans). I enjoyed myself as one of the paparazzi that night.P1080011_2 P1080012

Tao

P1040850_1P1040830_1A new addition to the overly decorated zen cafes in Kuching(this one looks more like a hip temple). Overly priced as well. Which is why I must take some photos to compensate for the money spent there(sponsored by Christabel). The ice blended non coffee drinks taste really good(love the whip cream) but coffee drinks are just a little too bitter.P1040855_2 P1040840
